He became President of Total Middle East in 1995 before joining the Group’s Executive Committee as the President of the Exploration & Production division in May 1999.

Christiana Figueres

Christiana Figueres was appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 17 May 2010.  The appointment was endorsed by the Bureau of the Convention.

Ms. Figueres has been involved in climate change negotiations since 1995.  She was a member of the Costa Rican negotiating team and represented Latin America and the Caribbean on the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism in 2007, before being elected Vice President of the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties 2008-2009.

In 1995 she founded the Center for Sustainable Development of the Americas (CSDA), a non-profit think tank for climate change policy and capacity-building. which she directed until 2003.  From 1994-1996, she served as Director of the Technical Secretariat, Renewable Energy in the Americas (REIA).

Ms. Figueres began her life of public service as Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Costa Rica in Bonn, Germany in 1982.  She served as Director of International Cooperation in the Ministry of Planning in Costa Rica (1987-1988), and was then named Chief of Staff to the Minister of Agriculture (1988-90).

Ms. Figueres has served on several boards of non-governmental organizations involved in climate change issues, including the Voluntary Carbon Standard.  She is also a widely published author on the design of climate solutions, and has been a frequent adviser to the private sector on how to play a leadership role in mitigation.

Ms. Figueres holds a Masters Degree in Anthropology from the London School of Economics, and a certificate in Organizational Development from Georgetown University.  She was born in San José, Costa Rica in 1956 and is married with two children.

He served in the Mexican government as Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Energy (2007-2011), and as Assistant Secretary for Bilateral Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2001-2005). He also worked as an independent consultant on trade and industrial policy to the Food and Agriculture Organization, and the governments of Mexico and the Dominican Republic (2005-2006).
Before joining the Mexican government he was Assistant Professor at the School of Politics and Economics of the Claremont Graduate University in California, where he taught courses in international political economy, economics, public policy, and economic development (1996-2001).
Dr. Flores-Quiroga studied Economics at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, in Mexico (1989) and a Ph.D. in Political Science-International Political Economy, with majors in economic theory and international political economy, at the University of California, Los Angeles (1997).

Michael Lynch

Michael C. Lynch is President of Strategic Energy and Economic Research and a lecturer at Vienna University.  He has combined S.B.-S.M. degrees in Political Science from M.I.T., and has performed a variety of studies related to international energy matters, including forecasting of the world oil market, energy and security and corporate strategy in the energy industries, as well as analysis of oil and gas supply. 

He is best known for his work in two areas:  analyzing the forecasting of oil and gas markets, and studying the economics of  petroleum supply.  As part of that, he has demonstrated the source of the errors in the 1970s oil forecasts and the shortcomings in oil supply models.  Most recently, he has been noted for his analysis of peak oil ‘modeling’ which demonstrated that it is based on flawed methods and is essentially unscientific.

He is a former Chief Energy Economist at DRI-WEFA, Inc. a leading economic consulting firm, and a past-President of the United States Association for Energy Economics.  He was a Senior Fellow for the USAEE.  His publications have appeared in seven languages, as well as English, and he serves on several editorial boards, including for the journal Energy Policy and Geopolitics of Energy.

Michael W. Masters is the founder and managing member of Masters Capital Management, an investment management firm. He is also a Partner, with Wilbur L. Ross, Jr., in Masters Capital Nanotechnology, a venture capital fund. Mr. Masters was profiled in the book “Stock Market Wizards” (Copyright 2001, 2003 by Jack D. Schwager, HarperCollins, Inc.). Mr. Masters, an expert on the topic of commodities speculation and financial reform, has testified before many Congressional committees and government agencies, including the Senate Homeland Security Committee, the House Energy Subcommittee, the House and Senate Agriculture Committees, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission. Recently, he participated in joint SEC-CFTC roundtable discussions on a variety of security-based swaps issues. He has detailed his views in a series of white papers (co-authored with Adam K. White), including “The Accidental Hunt Brothers,” “The Accidental Hunt Brothers – Act 2,” and “The 2008 Commodities Bubble.”

Speaking out about the far-reaching harmful effects of unregulated commodities speculation and the need for financial reform, Mr. Masters has made numerous appearances in media outlets around the world, including 60 Minutes, CBS News, CNBC, BBC, BBC Korea, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, Der Spiegel, and The Nikkei Veritas. The 2004 winner of the “Open Your Heart” award from Hedge Funds Care, Mr. Masters has founded several foundations, including the St. Croix (US Virgin Islands) Mission Outreach and The Atlanta Men’s Enterprise Network. Mr. Masters is a 1989 graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he was an All-American Swimmer. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, Suzanne, and their three children.

Brad Page CEO Global Carbon Capture & Storage Institute (GCCSI)

As CEO of the Global CCS Institute, Brad brings extensive knowledge and experience on Australian and international climate and energy issues.
Prior to the Institute, Brad served as CEO of the Energy Supply Association of Australia (esaa), the peak representative organisation of the electricity and downstream gas industry in Australia, for over seven years. During this time he acted as national spokesperson for these industries, and was also an active member of the Australian Government Business Roundtable on Climate Change, the CSIRO Energy Transformed Flagship Advisory Committee, and the Australian Government Energy White Paper High-Level Consultative Committee.

During 2001 and 2002, Brad headed the secretariat for the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Energy Market Review, recommending significant changes to the governance, regulation and policy development arrangements for electricity and gas markets. Brad also served as Chair of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation’s (CSIRO) Energy and Transport Sector Advisory Council between November 2004 and January 2009.

Before joining esaa, Brad enjoyed a long career in the Australian Public Service, departing at senior executive level. He was heavily involved with government-led microeconomic reform initiatives, including the implementation of Australia's National Electricity Market and enabling third party access to natural gas transmission pipelines. He also spent two years in the Australian Capital Territory Government implementing choice of gas and electricity retailer for smaller customers.

Brad holds a BA (Administration) and in 2009 studied the economics of climate change at Cambridge University as a British Council Chevening Fellow.


Paolo Scaroni
Paolo Scaroni Chief Executive Officer Eni

He has been Chief Executive Officer of Eni since June 2005.
He is currently Non-Executive Director of Assicurazioni Generali, Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of London Stock Exchange Group, Non-Executive Director of Veolia Environnement. Besides he is in the Board of Overseers of Columbia Business School and Fondazione Teatro alla Scala.

After graduating in economics at the Università Luigi Bocconi, Milan in 1969, he worked for three years at Chevron, before obtaining an MBA from Columbia University, New York, and continuing his career at McKinsey. In 1973 he joined Saint Gobain, where he held a series of managerial positions in Italy and abroad, until his appointment as head of the Glass Division in Paris in 1984. From 1985 to 1996 he was Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Techint. In 1996 he moved to the UK and was Chief Executive Officer of Pilkington until May 2002.
From May 2002 to May 2005 he was Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Enel.
From 2005 to July 2006 he was Chairman of Alliance Unichem.
In May 2004 he was appointed Cavaliere del Lavoro of the Italian Republic.
In November 2007 he was decorated as an Officier of the Légion d'honneur.


Peter R. Voser
Peter R. Voser Chief Executive Officer Royal Dutch Shell plc

Peter Voser became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on July 1, 2009.
Before his appointment as CEO, Peter had been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and an Executive Director of Royal Dutch Shell since 2004. He was CFO of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies from October 2004 to July 2005.
Peter was CFO and an Executive Committee Member of the Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) Group of Companies, based in Switzerland, from March 2002 until September 2004.
Peter joined Shell in 1982 after graduating in business administration from the University of Applied Sciences, Zürich. He went on to work in a number of finance and business roles in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Argentina and Chile.
After moving back to London from Chile in early 1997, Peter became the Group Chief Internal Auditor. In 1999 he was appointed CFO of Shell Europe Oil Products. He became CFO of the Global Oil Products Business in early 2001 and a member of the Oil Products Executive Committee.
From 2004 until April 2006, Peter was a member of the Supervisory Board of Aegon N.V. He served on the Board of Directors of UBS AG from April 2005 to April 2010. He was a member of the Swiss Federal Auditor Oversight Authority from 2006 until December 2010.
Since April 2010 he has been a director of Catalyst, a non-profit organisation which works to build inclusive environments and expand opportunities for women and business. In March 2011 he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Roche. In July 2011, His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei awarded him the title of Dato Seri Laila Jasa in recognition of his services to the state of Brunei.
Peter is also active in a number of international and bilateral organisations, including the European Round Table of Industrialists and The Business Council.

Personal
A Swiss citizen, Peter was born in 1958. He is married to Daniela and they have three children.
